Duties: Our department focuses on designing, manufacturing and characterizing quantum circuits based on Josephson junctions for use in high-frequency applications. for these tasks, we have our Clean Room Centre with its exhaustive thin-film technology and corresponding setups for cryogenic high-frequency measurements at our disposal. Your tasks will include: Scientific work on SQUID-based multiplex circuits for the microwave range (µwSQMUX) within the scope of the European Horizon 2020 project "Integrated Activities for the High-Energy Astrophysics Domain - AHEAD2020" Developing, simulating and fabricating µwSQMUX circuits, cryogenic characterization of these circuits and integration in demonstrator setups; Writing project reports and publishing the scientific results
Requirements: You have completed university studies (German Diplom or Master's) and obtained a doctorate in experimental physics; You have well-founded knowledge in the following fields: superconductivity, Josephson junctions, SQUIDs, designing and simulating microwave circuits, GHz metrology; You have analytical aptitudes and can prove that you are able to carry out scientific work autonomously; You have a good command of scientific and technical English, both written and spoken; You have excellent communication skills and are a team player; You are willing to travel within Germany and abroad within the scope of your assignment; Being fit for working in a cleanroom and in a low-temperature laboratory is a prerequisite

March 2020 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Department 2.4, Quantum Electronics, of Division 2, we are looking for a scientist with a doctorate specializing in physics to join us as soon as possible. This position is available on the basis of a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. The remuneration will be paid in accordance with remuneration group 13 TVöD Bund.
