Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics Leibniz Institute in Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association. WIAS invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant (f/m/d) (Ref. 20/04) in a new Leibniz Group ”Numerics for innovative semiconductor devices” (Head: Dr. Patricio Farrell) starting at the earliest possible date. The candidate will work on numerical discretization techniques for partial differential equations (finite volume methods) for semiconductor applications. The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate in mathematics or a related area. Furthermore, the candidate should have worked with at least one programming language (such as e.g. Matlab, Python, C++, Julia) and have a decent command of the English language. It is desirable if the candidate has experience with team work and an interest in interdisciplinary research. The group has generous travel funds as well as international partners, for example in England, Scotland and Italy. Please direct your scientific queries to Dr. Patricio Farrell (Patricio.Farrell@wias-berlin.de and use NUMSEMIC as subject). For questions concerning the application process please direct your inquiries to Marion Lawrenz (Marion.Lawrenz@wias-berlin.de). The appointment is initially limited for three years. The work schedule is 39 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD scale. The Institute aims to increase the proportion of women in this field, so applications from women are particularly welcome. Among equally qualified applicants, disabled candidates will be given preference. Please upload your complete application documents (motivation letter, detailed CV, certificates, list of MSc courses and grades, copy of the PhD thesis, contact details for at least two referees, etc.) via the applicant portal by March 15th, 2020 using the button "Apply online". We are looking forward to your application!
