Position: Postdoctoral position in Legionella Control in Buildings

Duties: investigate multiple aspects of Legionella sampling, detection, ecology and eventual management in building plumbing systems. This project is part of a multi-institute interdisciplinary effort, which aims at addressing concerns about the increasing number of Legionellosis cases in Switzerland and the legal and practical aspects concerning Legionella contamination in buildings
Requirements: PhD degree in a relevant field and a proven track record in this specific field. You are interested in multidisciplinary research that bridges fundamental and applied aspects, and you have specific expertise in real building sampling, Legionella detection with both conventional and PCR-based methods, as well as experience in Legionella management strategies
   
Text: Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems. The Department of Environmental Microbiology (Umik) invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in Legionella Control in Buildings in order to investigate multiple aspects of Legionella sampling, detection, ecology and eventual management in building plumbing systems. This project is part of a multi-institute interdisciplinary effort, which aims at addressing concerns about the increasing number of Legionellosis cases in Switzerland and the legal and practical aspects concerning Legionella contamination in buildings. The place of work for this position is at Eawag in Dübendorf. We are urgently looking for experienced candidates with a PhD degree in a relevant field and a proven track record in this specific field. You are interested in multidisciplinary research that bridges fundamental and applied aspects, and you have specific expertise in real building sampling, Legionella detection with both conventional and PCR-based methods, as well as experience in Legionella management strategies.
