Duties: The Department of Mathematics of UCL invites applications from candidates for 2 posts of Lecturer in Pure Mathematics. The successful candidates will be expected to conduct a vigorous, high-level research programme in pure mathematics, including publishing in leading journals, and be active in seeking to obtain external income to support their research. They will contribute to the teaching of courses and supervision of projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level and participate in local seminars and in national and international conferences
Requirements: The successful candidates should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in pure mathematics, they will have a developing track record of independent research excellence in pure mathematics of international standing, and a record of presenting mathematics research at national, and international conferences, meetings, or workshops. They are expected to, and have a commitment to sustained excellence in research and teaching; Teaching experience, including programme and course development, and experience of running research projects will also be required, as well as excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills; A record of successful supervision and mentoring of graduate students and research staff would be desirable, as well as an established record of excellent teaching in mathematics and the supervision of student projects or dissertations. Strong candidates would also have a record of attracting external funding to support research activity in mathematics

The successful candidates will be expected to conduct a vigorous, high-level research programme in pure mathematics, including publishing in leading journals, and be active in seeking to obtain external income to support their research. The department has internationally recognised research groups in pure and applied analysis; fluid mechanics; mathematical physics; geometry and topology; algebra, number theory and combinatorics; mathematical modelling in biology, finance, industry and society. These new posts are part of an expansion of the department; posts in applied mathematics will also be advertised. The posts are available from 1 July 2020 or as soon as possible there after.
