Duties: The objective consists in setting up for the first time a reference radiation field for high-energy pulsed radiation. This reference field is necessary for the proficiency testing and developing of radioprotection dosemeters. Your tasks will consist in planning, implementing and eventually characterizing the reference field. The mainly experimental research work will be conducted together with a motivated team consisting of scientists, engineers and laboratory technicians. The funding for the project is provided by the Federal Republic of Germany
Requirements: You have completed university studies of physics, preferably with a doctorate; Knowledge of Monte Carlo simulations would be an advantage; Ideally, you have knowledge of and experience in dosimetry; You have excellent communication skills and are a team player; You are highly motivated; You have a very good command of both spoken and written German as well as English; The physical ability to work in a laboratory and to perform experiments at locations outside the institute is required

January 2020 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Department 6.3, Radiation Protection Dosimetry, of Division 6, we are looking for a scientist with a doctorate in experimental physics to join us as soon as possible. This position is available on the basis of a 3-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. Depending on your personal qualifications, the remuneration may reach up to remuneration group 14 TVöD Bund.
