Position: PhD student - Structure-function analysis of toxin-antitoxin systems in the human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Institution: Universität Basel
Department: Biozentrum - Center for Molecular Life Sciences
Location: Basel, Switzerland
Duties: A PhD position is available at the Biozentrum within an SNSF-funded project on «The role of toxin/antitoxin modules in Pseudomonas aeruginosa phenotypic heterogeneity and antibiotic tolerance». The project aims at reaching a molecular and cellular understanding of phenotypic heterogeneity in populations of P. aeruginosa and how this contributes to virulence and persistence of this important human pathogen
Requirements: We are seeking excellent and highly motivated candidates with interest and training in structural biology and biochemistry. Successful applicants will be working in an interdisciplinary team of researchers investigating mechanisms of virulence and persistence of the human pathogen P. aeruginosa. The team includes experts in molecular microbiology, computational biology and structural biology. The new team member will be responsible for the biochemical and structural analysis of toxins and will probe their interaction with the respective antitoxins
