Duties: Your tasks will include scientific research work consisting in further developing tactile optical microprobes for the measurement of micro-geometries within the scope of a project involving industry. Your tasks in more detail: Reducing probing errors; Improving the probing properties during the scanning; Testing samples; Publishing the research results in scientific journals and disseminating them at national and international conferences
Requirements: You have completed university studies in engineering sciences, physics, applied mathematics or similar; You are familiar with methods and software used to analyze and assess measurement data sets; Ideally, you have experience in the field of dimensional metrology, in particular optical measurement procedures; You are highly committed and can identify with the tasks; You enjoy autonomous scientific work as well as project activities; You have a good command of both spoken and written German and English; You have excellent communication skills and are a team player; You are willing to travel within the scope of your assignment; You will work in a motivated team which provides the metrological fundamentals for industry and elaborates innovative concepts for metrology of the future. for this purpose, we have state-of-the-art measuring instruments and IT technology at our disposal

January 2020 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Department 5.3, "Coordinate Metrology", we are looking for a scientific collaborator to join us as soon as possible. This position is available on the basis of a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. The remuneration will be paid in accordance with remuneration group 13 TVöD Bund.
