Requirements: PhD in Political Science or Sociology; Skills in quantitative methods and/or computational methods (e.g. text-as-data methods, machine learning); Strong command of R and/or Stata; Didactic competence and enthusiasm for teaching; Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, and to contribute to the academic activities and further development of the Political Science department; Willingness to contribute to the university's self-administration; Strong command of English. Knowledge of German is a plus (part of courses are taught in German)
   
Text: Universität Basel: Two Postdoc Positions in Political Science Two Postdoc Positions in Political Science 60% The Department of Social Sciences of the University of Basel invites applications for two Postdoc positions in Political Science, for a duration of two years initially, with possible extension to six years. The starting date of the positions is 1 March 2020, or later. Salary is standardized based on University of Basel guidelines. Job description Position 1: Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Political Sociology, such as political behavior, party competition, representation, populism, inequality, or political communication Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring Teaching: 2 hours/semester Position 2: Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Comparative Politics, such as representation, party research, political methodology, or political communication Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring Teaching: 2 hours/semester Your profile PhD in Political Science or Sociology Skills in quantitative methods and/or computational methods (e.g. text-as-data methods, machine learning) Strong command of R and/or Stata Didactic competence and enthusiasm for teaching Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, and to contribute to the academic activities and further development of the Political Science department Willingness to contribute to the university's self-administration Strong command of English.
