Requirements: The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of PC hardware and peripherals, including experience of resolving hardware problems and installing hardware, and a good understanding of mobile technology; Candidates should also have a proficient knowledge of 32-bit/64-bit operating systems including Windows 10, Windows 7 and Mac OS, experience of software installation and configuration, an understanding of the principles of TCP/IP networking and a demonstrable knowledge of computer security issues; Experience of providing IT support to colleagues or customers at all levels, and a commitment to excellent customer service, both to colleagues from other teams and to service users, are also essential; Further requirements are excellent attention to detail, the ability to show initiative in solving problems, an aptitude for working individually and as part of a team, and the ability to prioritise and schedule own workload in the face of conflicting demands
   
Text: Desktop Support Officer, - Ref:1823344 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Library Services Location of position London Grade 6 Hours Full Time Salary (inclusive of London allowance) £29,089 - £34,090 per annum Duties and Responsibilities The Digital Services Team oversees the delivery of digital library services, including web interfaces, in the context of excellent customer service. This includes day-to-day services for Library staff and for Library users in their discovery and delivery of Library-funded electronic resources. Technical maintenance, support and development of these services is the responsibility of the UCL Information Services Division, and the Digital Services Team acts as the main point of operational liaison with ISD, representing Library Services business needs and service priorities. This requires effective liaison with service teams across the Library. In addition, the Team is responsible for supporting library-specific desktop hardware and software. This is a full time post, providing day-to-day desktop hardware and software support in liaison with ISD, in areas including the supply of Desktop@UCL workstations, network configuration, management of library-specific software provision and ensuring operating system support for all library workstations and other relevant equipment. Additional responsibilities include keeping precise records of support calls, ordering, maintaining an accurate hardware and software inventory and evaluating and advising on new developments which may be of relevance to the delivery of IT services within UCL Library Services.
