Position: Postdoc position “Geolipidome”
Institution: Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research
Location: 't Horntje, Texel, North Holland, Netherlands
Duties: Organic rich geological deposits such as black shales and sapropels contain a wealth of information, stored in fossil molecular biomarkers, on the conditions under which they are formed. Historically, analysis of such samples was focused on those molecules amenable to gas chromatography, missing larger, more polar compounds. This project aims to study the “geolipidome” of such deposits using novel high-resolution analytical approaches, identifying potential biomarkers which could be utilized in future proxy development
Requirements: As part of the NESSC project, the department of Marine Microbiology and Biogeochemistry is looking for an enthusiastic and independent postdoc who is already specialized in organic geochemistry and mass spectrometry. Due to the international character of the research group, excellent English communication skills are expected
