September 2019 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Division 1 "Mechanics and Acoustics" we are looking for a scientist with a doctor’s degree specializing in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, information technology or a comparable field to join us as soon as possible. This is a permanent post. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. The remuneration will be paid up to remuneration group 14 TVöD Bund, depending on your personal qualification. Your tasks: This post is integrated in a European research project to establish infrastructure in the field of digitalization. In addition, you will assume tasks as an expert for safety at work. There is a possibility to take part in appropriate advanced training. In detail, your tasks will be as follows: Coordination of the EMPIR project SmartCom Research and development in the field of communication of metrological information Developing and testing scientific concepts for measurement data exchange Elaboration of a validation concept for the electronic exchange of metrological data Monitoring and assisting the implementation of the developed concepts Preparing and conducting project meetings Technical monitoring of the project and reviewing its performance Communication with the "Coordination Digitalization" staff group of PTB Presentation of project results in national and international scientific publications and presentations Consulting activity as expert for safety at work in cooperation with PTB’s full-time experts. Appropriate training will be possible. Your profile: You have completed your university studies (German "Diplom" or Master) with a doctor’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, information technology or a comparable field You have knowledge of and experience in a field which is relevant for this post, ideally in the form of a final paper or dissertation You have experience in project management and project implementation, preferably from international projects in Europe You are able to apply your advanced knowledge of and experience in at least one higher programming language (e.g. Java / C / C++ / Python). Knowledge of XML is desirable Knowledge in the field of cryptographic methods is also of advantage You are an excellent team player and have good communication skills and you are willing to cooperate You have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and German Prior knowledge and experience in this field are of advantage You have very well-developed organizational skills and are able to work independently You are willing to go on business trips for several days within Germany and abroad For further information concerning this post, please contact: T.
