Apply online DTU Entrepreneurship invites applications for a 3-year PhD position within the research group on diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship. DTU Entrepreneurship is a newly formed research centre focusing on high impact research within the broader aspects of technology entrepreneurship. The topic of the PhD project is on the effects of gendering and gender bias on the perception of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial behaviour in technology entrepreneurship. Gender bias and gendering in entrepreneurship has been a central topic since the early 1990s when the primary focus on gender stereotypes were identified. This has led to a focus on the male norm in entrepreneurship, generally reducing diversity within entrepreneurship ecosystems, leading to structural inequalities and gendered processes being commonplace. This gender gap differs between fields and industries, being significantly higher in technology entrepreneurship, particularly when compared to social entrepreneurship. Bridging this gap requires institutional transformation, and a deeper understanding of the systemic differences across entrepreneurship ecosystems. Overall, this research lies in the intersection between entrepreneurship, gender and sociocultural research areas, aiming to identify the existing gaps in gender bias, and the differences between entrepreneurship ecosystems. The project is expected to focus particularly on Impact Tech entrepreneurship, in addition to technology and social entrepreneurship, in examining the gendering process. A key outcome of the project is the application of technology-based solutions for diversity and inclusion to reduce, and minimize, these gaps in the entrepreneurship ecosystems. The project is expected to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #5 for Gender Equality, as well as the EU’s Gender Equality strategy plan. Furthermore, the project is expected to contribute to DTU’s strategy and vision towards the creation of a more gender diverse environment in entrepreneurship, both at DTU, and society as a whole. In addition to executing in the research project, the candidate is expected to engage in DTU Entrepreneurships research group on diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship. The group works with a variety of diversity topics, and research collaboration when relevant is expected. In addition, gender diversity is a novel research topic in the context of Impact Tech, hence the candidate is expected to show a high degree of autonomy and initiative, seeking out solutions to theoretical and technical challenges independently, both within the centre, DTU, and with international partners.
