Text: Research Technician, - Ref:1819805 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Infection and Immunity Location of position London Grade 6 Hours Full Time Salary (inclusive of London allowance) £28,574 - £33,487 per annum Duties and Responsibilities A Research Technician's position is available, funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant to Dr Laura McCoy, in UCL's Division of Infection and Immunity (Bloomsbury Campus, Cruciform Building). Work within the Division of Infection and Immunity aims to translate advances in the understanding of pathogens and the immune system into improved diagnosis and therapy. Dr McCoy's group aims to understand the fundamental regulation of the humoral immune response during chronic HIV infection and the development of anti-viral antibodies. The post holder will manage clinical sample processing, purify antibodies/recombinant proteins and use crispr-cas9 to engineer cell lines. This work is an integral part of a project that aims to identify factors associated to the development of broadly neutralising antibodies against HIV. The successful candidate will work directly together with the PI within a dynamic group of scientists working on integrated aspects of the immune response during HIV infection. Key Requirements The successful applicant should have a BSc or equivalent in Biochemistry/Immunology/Biomedical Sciences or a related subject and significant experience of working in a research laboratory. A high level of attention to detail and a proven commitment to technical excellence are essential. Competency in recombinant mammalian protein production/purification, primary cell culture and experience of molecular biology are highly desirable. They must be highly organised, able to manage time and work to strict deadlines. They must be able to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people and keep accurate and detailed written laboratory records.
