Duties: Realization and model-based evaluation of numerical simulations in support of physical and radiobiological experiments (e.g.: nanodosimetry, measurement of stopping cross-sections, nanoparticles); Collaborating in the development of a road map for a Monte Carlo gold standard; Cooperating in the projects of EURADOS Working Group 6 "Computational Dosimetry", especially relating to the uncertainty of simulation results; Participating in the GEANT4-DNA collaboration for implementing measured cross section data; Scientific publications and conference papers
Requirements: You have completed university studies of physics or a comparable natural or engineering science (German "Diplom" or Master's) with a doctor's degree and you have obtained at least the "B" grade ("gut" in the German grading system; You have experience in the simulation of experiments and a good knowledge of GEANT4, of ROOT and of software that is suitable for the further analysis of the simulation results; Knowledge of further simulation programs and numerical mathematics would be of advantage

September 2019 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. Department 6.5 "Radiation Effects" of Division 6 is looking for a scientist with a doctor's degree in physics or in a comparable natural or engineering science This position is available on the basis of a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. Depending on your personal qualifications, the remuneration can reach up to remuneration group 14 TVöD Bund.
