Position: Collections Manager (care and teaching facilitation)

Duties: The post holder will manage UCL’s new Object Based Learning Laboratory in the heart of the Bloomsbury Campus as well as managing the team that facilitate teaching and research with UCL Culture’s 160k+ museum objects. They will liaise closely with UCL’s many academics who use objects in teaching to ensure that this new facility is fit for their needs. They will take a leading role with the Collections Management team working on collections care projects
Requirements: The successful candidate will have experience of handling a wide range of objects and supervising staff including managing rotas. They will have a degree or equivalent experience and a good understanding of collections legislation. They will be a strong communicator with good team working, leadership, problem solving and planning skills

UCL Culture manages museums, theatres, and collections and facilitates engagement within and outside of UCL. This includes the Bloomsbury Theatre, the Grant Museum of Zoology, the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, the Art Museum, the Pathology Museum and collections including the auto icon Jeremy Bentham. We bring diverse performers and audiences into the heart of UCL to energise the student experience and fuel UCLs creative culture with cutting edge cultural experiences. We collaborate with UCL students and staff to provoke, connect and engage more powerfully. We use our objects, insights and expertise to reframe questions and surface new ideas. We believe that open minds see further. The post holder will manage UCLs new Object Based Learning Laboratory in the heart of the Bloomsbury Campus as well as managing the team that facilitate teaching and research with UCL Cultures 160k museum objects. The Operations team within UCL Culture directly manage our venues, customer interactions, administration and collections. The Operations team sets the standard in these areas to ensure we maintain a quality, compliant and professional service-orientated approach that responds to the strategy of UCL Culture and UCL.
