Apply online We are looking for a technically skilled specialist programmer who will program the pesticide emission consensus model for life cycle assessment in a flexible and web-based platform. The job DTU Management’s Quantitative Sustainability Assessment (QSA) group covers research and development of scientifically based engineering methods for decision support for environmental and social sustainability. The research is thus positioned at the interface between natural sciences and engineering-based decision-support. A particular focus area is research and development of methods for quantifying the environmental emissions and impacts associated with anthropogenic activities and their use of technologies, products, and services. The field of research is within web programming of anthropogenic emissions and life cycle inventory and impact assessment. You will contribute to research within the field of life cycle assessment, in which chemicals emitted along product or service life cycles are evaluated in terms of potential multi-pathway exposure and human and ecosystem effects, and how hazardous chemicals can be substituted by more sustainable alternatives, with focus on agricultural pesticides. You will contribute to advancing the field of pesticide emission modelling using various software tools (Analytica, Excel) and web development environments, batch processing algorithms and mathematical modelling. Using state-of-the-art concepts of pesticide emission and fate modelling, as well as high-throughput methods for web processing of pesticide data and algorithms, your work will cover central aspects of chemical environmental emissions and fate, human and ecological exposure and related effects on human and ecosystem health and combine these aspects with advanced high-throughput web-based software environments. The main goal is to develop a web-based framework to quantify pesticide emissions for application in life cycle assessment and related decision support. Required skills: Life cycle pesticide emission modelling using Analytica software Development/adaptation of multimedia mass balance models Web programming using PHP, XAMPP, Apache, SQL Special expertise in translating life cycle inventory emission models for pesticides between Analytica, Excel, and web environments including curating and analysing chemical data for pesticides, advanced skills in web programming, Analytica and SQL for automated data processing and batch processing, and skills in pesticide drift, emission, and plant uptake modelling are a clear advantage. A high motivation for technical implementation and research operationalization, excellent communication skills in English are essential for a successful application.
