Position: Researcher in Hydrodynamic Loads on Offshore Wind Turbines

Duties: The research is aimed at extreme wave impacts and their detailed loads. CFD analysis is a central part of the position, along with development of physics-based interpretation models. Analysis of experimental data will also be conducted and further be used for validation of the models. The models are coupled with reliability based tools such as FORM, to couple the load phenomena to probabilities for design. Further areas may include research into AI-based methods for load prediction and experimental work. The position further involves coordination of DTU activities within different research projects, active participation in funding applications, supervision of MSc/PhD students and some teaching; You must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), preferably within wind energy. You must demonstrate profound knowledge in offshore hydrodynamics. This includes documented research results within; CFD modelling of wave impacts; Nonlinear wave theory; Reliability based modelling; Breaking wave loads; Further, you must have a well developed physical understanding, documented programming skills, and a high level of applied mathematics

Apply online The Fluid Mechanics Section at DTU Wind Energy is seeking a researcher within hydrodynamic loads on offshore wind turbines. The position as researcher is a permanent entry-level position. The Fluid Mechanics Section is located at DTU Lyngby Campus. The sections research is focused on aero- and hydrodynamics within wind energy. The section has a strong track record in experimental work, numerical modelling and teaching within wind energy. The researcher will be a key person in a strengthening of the departments activities within offshore hydrodynamics. The position is focused around detailed analysis and modelling of extreme hydrodynamic load events for wind turbine substructures. The candidate will carry out research in collaboration with various international project partners and the wind energy industry.
