The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research insti-tutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association. Job Advertisement WIAS invites applications for a Research Assistant (f/m/d) (Ref. 19/14) in the Research Group ”Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing” (Head: Prof. Dr. V. John) starting at the earliest possible date. The applicant is expected to perform active research in the development and implementation of advanced numerical methods for application-driven problems from fluid dynamics, e.g., for multi-phase flows, flows with free surfaces, or fluid-structure interaction problems. The appli-cant should possess substantial knowledge in the implementation of finite element methods. A university diploma or master degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline as well as a PhD degree are required. Scientific question may be addressed to Prof. V. John (Volker.John@wias-berlin.de). The appointment is limited to 2 years and may be extended. The salary is according to the German TVoeD scale with a working time of 39 hours per week.
