Position: Senior Teaching Fellow in Civil Engineering Design

Duties: We are seeking to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow in Civil Engineering Design to join the team co-ordinating the teaching of design throughout our undergraduate programmes. We are looking for an inspirational and dynamic individual whose principal role will be the delivery and management of the the Integrated Design Project (IDP), working at the interface between architecture and engineering. This will include: coordination and close collaboration with our industrial partners, the design teaching team and other teaching colleagues; recruitment of Industry Teaching Fellows and Mentors; creation of project briefs; provision of formative support and summative assessment for the IDP students; and liaison with the administrative staff supporting the module. The post-holder will also support the development and delivery of design teaching across all years of the BEng, MEng and MSc programmes in Civil Engineering and contribute to undergraduate teaching of professional skills in Civil Engineering
Requirements: The post-holder will have industrial experience as a Civil Engineering Design Engineer in practice, experience of working on multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, and the ability to work closely with other members of the design teaching team and the wider department in coordinating, promoting and running teaching and learning activities. The ability to work with, and involve, industry and specialist educators in design teaching, and to assess student work and provide effective feedback within the prescribed timescale, are also essential. Registration as a Chartered Engineer, and experience working in Structural Engineering, or with Building Information Modelling and/or digital engineering, would be an advantage
