Apply online Applications are invited for two 2-year post doc position in fisheries technology. The Post doc will enter the Fisheries technology research group with a special focus on technological solutions to fisheries management challenges. The group is embedded in “Section for Ecosystem based Marine Management” in Hirtshals. The section has 35 employees and focuses on interdisciplinary research improving our understanding of marine ecosystems and how they are managed. It offers an internationally recognised and highly dynamic scientific environment. Responsibilities and tasks The research tasks will focus on activities in national and international projects aimed at i) testing and documenting active and passive fishing gears or technical solutions to support the implementation of the reformed Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), ii) conducting applied research in partnership with the fishing industry and other stakeholders, including participation in and coordination of sea trials on board research and commercial fishing vessels, iii) involvement in research dissemination at an international level, e.g. ICES working groups, iv) giving lectures in fisheries technology courses offered by DTU Aqua and participating in giving advice for the Danish government. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in fisheries technology, fisheries management or a related field . Assessment In the assessment of the candidates, particular consideration will be given to: Experience with field work within a fisheries management discipline, preferably involving experience on commercial vessels Demonstrated research success as shown by publication in scientific journals An understanding of commercial fishing and the types of gears used The ability to handle datasets and a good statistical understanding Ability to work independently and conscientiously as well as in teams T he ability to communicate at all levels in English We offer DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice.
