Duties: We have a vacancy for a medical statistician that would undertake statistical analyses of ongoing and closed trials; work with investigators to write papers to be presented at conferences and published in medical journals; be involved in developing grant applications; and participation in postgraduate teaching. He/she would work closely with scientific staff within the UCL and internationally, and major pharmaceutical companies who fund some of the trials. The CTC is keen on professional development, so the person would attend medical and statistical conferences in the UK and abroad each year, including short training/development courses (all paid by the CTC)
Requirements: The post holder will preferably will have a background in clinical trials (not necessarily cancer). The successful candidate should have a postgraduate (MSc or above) in Medical Statistics or related subject with practical experience in clinical trials and/or epidemiological studies. However, for the grade 6 post, he/she could be graduating with an MSc in 2019. Experience of using statistical methods of design and analysis in medical research is essential, including use of survival analyses

The CTC is a major department within the UCL Cancer Institute (which houses about 400 staff involved in cancer research from high level basic science through to clinical practice). The CTC is responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of a large number of multi-centre national and international clinical phase I/II and III trials, and large-scale observational studies. These are in several cancers, and involve evaluating new treatments, diagnostic tests, biomarkers that can predict patient outcomes, or screening tests for the early detection of cancer ( http://www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk/ ). It is one of the largest cancer trials centres in the UK (about 110-120 staff).
