Position: Post-Doctoral Research Position to study "Occurrence, Fate and Effects of Microplastics in the Aquatic Environment"

Duties: The postdoctoral fellow is expected to establish an independent line of research in the context of aquatic microplastics. Potential research avenues include the study of microplastics distribution and fate in the aquatic environment, their effect on biota, and/or the characterization of microplastics from various aquatic compartments such as water surface, sea ice, or snow. Research to promote methodological advances in identification and quantification of microplastics is encouraged; The position includes a 3h/week teaching commission in the Master Course on Sustainable Development and the supervision of master students
Requirements: PhD in biology, in environmental sciences, or in another relevant natural science discipline; Extensive experience and expertise in microplastics field work, separation, and analysis (mandatory); Proven knowledge and experience in quantitative methods and statistics (mandatory); Modelling experience (beneficial); We look forward to hiring an enthusiastic, responsible and ambitious person with a " can do" attitude, an independent work style, and the ability to work in different teams and build international networks. Text: Post-Doctoral Research Position to study "Occurrence, Fate and Effects of Microplastics in the Aquatic Environment" (80%-100%) The research group Man-Society-Environment of the Department of environmental Sciences is looking to expand its microplastics team with a post doctoral research fellow. Our research group studies the occurrence and fate of microplastics in the aquatic environment. We have previously published foundational work on microplastics in major rivers in Europe as well as the Antarctic region, studied the interaction of microplastics with aquatic organisms, and developed efficient methods for identification and quantification of microplastics.Website: https://mgu.unibas.ch/en/research/anthropogenic-pollution-of-the-environment/ Your position The postdoctoral fellow is expected to establish an independent line of research in the context of aquatic microplastics.
