Position: Associate Professor in Security and Crime Science - Financial Crime

Duties: The appointee will play a leading role in developing financial crime as a research and teaching strength within the Department. They will be expected to undertake high quality research within their own specialist areas of financial crime that contributes to the broad crime science agenda of using scientific knowledge and methods to develop practical and ethical ways to reduce or detect crime (including terrorism). To this end, they will conduct empirical research that feeds into professional practice and/or policy-making in criminal justice and financial regulatory contexts
Requirements: The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant social or physical science (e.g., economics, accountancy, criminology, political science, psychology, sociology, mathematics, data science, and computer science); They will also have a demonstrated ability to teach at a university level, an international research and publication profile in areas relevant to financial crime and a track record of high quality publications and research funding

The appointee will play a leading role in developing financial crime as a research and teaching strength within the Department. They will be expected to undertake high quality research within their own specialist areas of financial crime that contributes to the broad crime science agenda of using scientific knowledge and methods to develop practical and ethical ways to reduce or detect crime (including terrorism). To this end, they will conduct empirical research that feeds into professional practice and/or policy-making in criminal justice and financial regulatory contexts. The appointee will teach on one or more of our undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. While they may contribute to existing modules there is the expectation that the appointee will develop new modules in financial crime.
