Apply online DTU Space invites applications for a Postdoc position starting in August 2019 (or as soon as possible hereafter) on the topic of Monitoring of Greenland Ice Sheet changes from remote sensing from space and aircraft. The position will be based in the Geodynamics group, in the new Space Geodesy division, which has a strong focus on remote sensing of the cryosphere, both from satellites (radar satellite altimetry, lidar, gravity), airborne and in-situ campaigns and GNSS. We are currently active in several national and international projects where we work on developing, implementing and validating methods for using satellite data to map the recent and current changes of the Earths cryosphere. Furthermore, we have extensive experience in carrying out field campaigns in the polar regions. DTU Space contributes to both the national Programme for Monitoring of the Greenland Ice Sheet (promice.org), the EU-funded Copernicus Climate Change Servide (C3S), and the ESA funded Greenland Ice Sheet Climate Change Initiative ( http://esa-icesheets-greenland-cci.org/ ) with remote sensing products of e.g. elevation changes, mass changes, digital elevation models and ice sheet thickness. The Postdoc will contribute to the ongoing R&D work especially within the PROMICE and CCI projects, and contribute to the processing of satellite data within all the projects. A main research challenge be the development of high-resolution time series of ice mass changes from a combination of all available satellite data (e.g. altimetry, gravimetry, ice velocity), including use of new satellites (such as Sentinel-3, IceSat-2 and GRACE-FO), as well as airborne lidar and radar data. The Postdoc will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing work of the research group in broader cryosphere-related matters and ongoing field campaigns both for land ice and for sea ice.
