Duties: A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in the group of Dr Tim Newbold at UCL. The postholder will develop new mechanistic biodiversity simulation models by combining the strengths of two different yet complementary areas of theory: general ecosystem models, and ecological neutral theory. They will apply these models to broad questions related to ecology and conservation policy: How is biodiversity distributed across the globe? What influences the rate at which new species evolve? And, how will global biodiversity indicators react to human induced global change?
Requirements: The successful candidate will have a PhD (or about to submit) in a relevant subject area. Computer coding, including writing automated scripts and statistical analysis, preferably in the R language are essential. Evidence of a publication record in good quality publications, relative to opportunity is also essential

The post is funded by the Leverhulme Trust and is available from now until 26 July 2021 in the first instance with possibility of extension.
