Position: Microbial Genomics Data Scientist

Location: Basel, Switzerland
Duties: Maintenance, modernisation and technical support of the next generation sequencing facility (Illumina MiSeq, NextSeq500, Oxford Nanopore Technologies). Development of pipelines for data analysis and clinical reporting using open source and proprietary software (Ridom SeqSphere+, CLC Genomics Workbench). Integration of data into the clinical data warehouse and other databases. Research and development focusing on novel of novel diagnostic tests using NGS (metagenomics, etc)
Requirements: PhD and postdoc experience. High technical expertise with Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq500 and further sequencing technologies. Programming skills in: python, bash, R. Experience with varied bioinformatics software tools. Demonstrated ability to perform bioinformatic analyses, in particular in the area of phylogenetic analysis and prediction of antibiotic resistance from whole genome sequencing data. Deep understanding of microbial evolution and mechanisms. German and English speaking and writing. Enjoys working as part of multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, clinical microbiologists, infectious disease clinicians and technicians. Ability to work independently and organise own workload
