Requirements: You have completed university studies of mechanical engineering, geodesy, physics or mathematics. Ideally, you are familiar with the field of coordinate metrology. You have technical skills and a good understanding of mathematics. You have practical programming experience (e.g. C++, LabView, Python and/or Matlab). You are highly committed, capable of working autonomously and willing to improve your skills. You have a very good command of both written and spoken German as well as English

May 2019 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Department 5.3, "Coordinate Metrology", we are looking for a doctoral candidate specializing in tactile coordinate metrology to join us as soon as possible. This position is available on the basis of a 3-year fixed-term contract. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. The remuneration will be paid in accordance with remuneration group 13 TVöD Bund (85 %). The tasks consist in thoroughly investigating and characterizing influences of different measurement parameters on high-precision coordinate measurements using the single-point mode and the scanning mode for use in industry and for calibration.
