Duties: The UCL Ear Institute is a leading centre for hearing research in Europe, situated within one of the strongest neuroscience communities in the world at University College London. The post-holder will be expected to carry out electrophysiology and imaging experiments to study the physiology of the microvasculature of the mammalian inner ear. The project will employ patch clamp, calcium imaging and confocal immunofluorescence to identify ion channelsubtypes and determine their intracellular regulation pathways
Requirements: The post holder should hold a PhD degree in a biomedical or biosciences subject and have carried out high quality academic research using using electrophysiological techniques. They should have experience in cell physiology and/or neuroscience

The post-holder will be expected to carry out electrophysiology and imaging experiments to study the physiology of the microvasculature of the mammalian inner ear. The project will employ patch clamp, calcium imaging and confocal immunofluorescence to identify ion channelsubtypes and determine their intracellular regulation pathways. The post is available immediately and is funded for 33 months in the first instance. Key Requirements The post holder should hold a PhD degree in a biomedical or biosciences subject and have carried out high quality academic research using using electrophysiological techniques. They should have experience in cell physiology and/or neuroscience. Experience of patch clamp electrophysiology is essential, and knowledge of vascular and/orauditory physiology would be advantageous. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary ?30,922 - ?32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
