Duties: We are seeking a Research Fellow for the Department of Cancer Biology to work on a research programme focused on the study of haematopoietic cells in Prof Tariq Enver’s Stem Cell research group. The position involves planning and performing experiments using biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology; maintaining an organised and detailed laboratory book and presenting data updates at lab meetings
Requirements: The successful candidate must have (or be studying towards) a PhD in cancer science or equivalent. Candidates must have have knowledge and experience in molecular biology such as lentiviral vector design, production and packaging, qPCR, Western blotting, preparation of RNA and cDNA and cell biology including mammalian cell culture. Fluorescence- Activated cell sorting and animal work (adult mouse tissue dissection) is desirable but not essential

The position involves planning and performing experiments using biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology; maintaining an organised and detailed laboratory book and presenting data updates at lab meetings. The position is available immediately until the end of September 2020, in the first instance, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and acquisition of further funding. Key Requirements The successful candidate must have (or be studying towards) a PhD in cancer science or equivalent. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary ?30,922-?32,607 per annum)with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. Candidates must have have knowledge and experience in molecular biology such as lentiviral vector design, production and packaging, qPCR, Western blotting, preparation of RNA and cDNA and cell biology including mammalian cell culture.
