Duties: We are looking for two teaching fellows with a structural/architectural engineering background to deliver design studio teaching and tutoring to our new MEng in Engineering and Architectural Design students. The MEng programme in Engineering and Architectural Design, joint between UCL CEGE, UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE) and Bartlett School of Architecture (BSA), is unique in the country and responds to the building industry future needs for integration of the different disciplines to underpin a more robust and sustainable design of the built environment. The post will require working within a team of professionals to deliver tutoring and mentoring of the 2nd or 3rd year students in the studio environment
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have substantial industrial experience (Senior Engineer or Associate to an excellent structural engineering design company) in collaborative design projects and some experience of tutoring undergraduate students on design modules; and a good first degree and an MEng/MSc in structural/architectural engineering or a relevant discipline, and substantial professional experience (ideally at associate level) in designing and delivering projects in the built environment. Successful applicants will be a chartered structural or civil engineer and have a track record of collaborative and innovative design practice, where sustainability and integration of the design and delivery process can be demonstrated

CEGE and the Bartlett, the UCL Faculty of the Built Environment are recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering as a ?Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Design?. We are looking for two teaching fellows with a structural/architectural engineering background to deliver design studio teaching and tutoring to our new MEng in Engineering and Architectural Design students. The MEng programme in Engineering and Architectural Design, joint between UCL CEGE, UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE) and Bartlett School of Architecture (BSA), is unique in the country and responds to the building industry future needs for integration of the different disciplines to underpin a more robust and sustainable design of the built environment. The post will require working within a team of professionals to deliver tutoring and mentoring of the 2nd or 3rd year students in the studio environment. You will be part of an interdisciplinary studio tutoring team and responsible for proposing and articulating design briefs, delivering workshops on structural design and tutoring students individually and in teams to deliver their project. The posts will be available from July 2019 initially for one year and are 0.3FTE (one and a half days per week) each. The posts will require the candidates to divide their time between the Bloomsbury and Here East campuses as per timetable arrangements. The post involves close collaboration with a team of teaching/technical staff from CEGE, the BSA and IEDE. The candidate must have a good knowledge (Grade 7) or in-depth knowledge (Grade 8) of a wide range of construction materials, structural mechanics, sustainability and other factors that govern architectural/engineering design, demonstrable through their professional curriculum and involvement in major construction projects. The candidate will also be knowledgeable (Grade 7) / proficient (Grade 8) in project delivery, practical construction issues and integrated design, and have excellent communication and time management skills. Previous teaching experience and some research experience will also be an advantage for a Grade 8 appointment.
