Position: Postdoctoral Fellow in Cellular Phase Separation

Duties: Establishment of genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screens (knock-down, silencing, activation). Generation of fluorescent marker cell lines and imaging-based assays for membrane-less organelles. Optimization of imaging flow cytometry-based cell phenotyping and sorting. Next-generation sequencing analysis. Validation of candidates using functional assays (e.g. transcriptomics) as well as advanced live cell microscopy
Requirements: PhD degree in the life sciences (e. g. cell or molecular biology). Experience in high-throughput technologies (e.g. siRNA or CRISPR screens, transcriptomics, Hi-C techniques). Experience in molecular biology techniques. Experience in mammalian cell culture. Experience in microscopy techniques. Ability to work independently and creatively. Text: Postdoctoral Fellow in Cellular Phase Separation Location: Heidelberg, Germany Staff Category: Postdoctoral Fellow Contract Duration: 2 years Grading: Stipend Closing Date: 27 June 2019 Reference Number: HD01509 The research group of Sara Cuylen-Haering in the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit at EMBL Heidelberg has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow with interest in applying high-throughput CRISPR-Cas9 screening, high-throughput imaging and imaging flow cytometry approaches to study phase separation processes in human cells. Your role You will lead a cutting-edge experimental research project to develop and implement high-throughput screening pipelines in combination with CRISPR-Cas9-mediated genome engineering and novel imaging flow cytometry technologies. The project includes: Establishment of genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screens (knock-down, silencing, activation) Generation of fluorescent marker cell lines and imaging-based assays for membrane-less organelles Optimization of imaging flow cytometry-based cell phenotyping and sorting Next-generation sequencing analysis Validation of candidates using functional assays (e.g. transcriptomics) as well as advanced live cell microscopy Your project will benefit from close collaborations with leading experts in flow cytometry, “omics”- technologies and imaging. You are expected to participate in and contribute to cross-disciplinary teams that work on imaging flow cytometry technology improvement and assay development.
