Duties: The Journalism and Communication Studies Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for a one-year Part-time (50%, 4 courses) Non-Regular position, beginning September 1, 2019. Candidates are being sought with an advanced understanding of journalism practice, up-to-date knowledge of evolving methods and necessary skills, and ability to teach both theory and skills in depth, for a variety of theoretical and practical Journalism courses
Requirements: Minimum qualification for Journalism courses is a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), or equivalent industry experience

Candidates are being sought with an advanced understanding of journalism practice, up-to-date knowledge of evolving methods and necessary skills, and ability to teach both theory and skills in depth, for a variety of theoretical and practical Journalism courses. A list of our current courses is available at: http://www.kpu.ca/calendar/2018-19/courses/jrnl/index.html KPU’s Journalism and Communication Studies department offers courses in each of the three academic terms (Sept-Dec, Jan-Apr, and May-Aug). Applicants must be able to teach, day and evening, at our Surrey, Richmond, and Langley campuses. We are seeking individuals who meet the following qualifications: Minimum qualification for Journalism courses is a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), or equivalent industry experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a track record of quality instruction at the post-secondary level. A complete application includes: a cover letter that addresses your areas of interest and qualifications; a current curriculum vitae; a one-page statement of teaching philosophy; evidence of teaching success (including course evaluations and syllabi from previous courses taught); and a list of three professional references able to comment on your teaching ability, academic accomplishments and/or journalistic accomplishments.
