Position: Principal Specialist Cyber Security x 2

Duties: Perform event correlation, monitoring, research, assessment and analysis on enterprise security tools, SIEM, Firewalls, Antivirus systems, proxy devices etc to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack. Characterize and analyze network packet captures, DNS, proxy, Netflow, malware, host-based security and application logs, as well as logs from various types of security sensors, to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to system and network resources. Provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities
Requirements: Experience in the development and implementation of information security strategies, in a large, complex and geographically dispersed service delivery organisation. Broad knowledge and understanding of the major trends, strategic directions and legislative and governance frameworks related to information security, with the capacity to successfully adopt them in the healthcare environment. Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses to key issues affecting the enterprise. Highly developed interpersonal, presentation and consultation skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff at the organisational, state and national levels

Your key Responsibilities will include: Perform event correlation, monitoring, research, assessment and analysis on enterprise security tools, SIEM, Firewalls, Antivirus systems, proxy devices etc to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack. Perform proactive threat hunting; analyzing and responding to complex and advanced threats. Monitor external data sources (e.g., cyber defence vendor sites, Computer Emergency Response Teams, Security Focus) to maintain currency of cyber defence threat condition and determine which security issues may have an impact on the enterprise. Perform cyber defence incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact, identifying the specific vulnerability, and making recommendations that enable expeditious remediation. Track and document cyber defence incidents from initial detection through final resolution. Write and publish cyber defence techniques, guidance, and reports on incident findings to appropriate constituencies. Collect intrusion artifacts (e.g., source code, malware, Trojans) and use discovered data to enable mitigation of potential cyber defence incidents within the enterprise. Serve as technical expert and liaison to explain threat details as required. Investigate, document, respond and report on cyber security issues and emerging trends. Perform cyber defence trend analysis and reporting by developing dashboards and reports to identify potential threats, suspicious/anomalous activity, malware, etc. Identify and analyse strategic Information Security organisational and sector issues, and develop comprehensive policy responses, briefs, submissions, presentations, reports and information papers for the Department's senior executives as required. Build and maintain effective working relationships by communicating, consulting and negotiating with Information Management / Information Communication Technology professionals to promote sound Information Security practices throughout the organisation.
