Duties: Provide effective and efficient clinical care and work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and non-clinical personnel to provide quality nursing care. Provide effective communication throughout the service units to promote positive team functioning and facilitate consumer focused service delivery. Effectively manage self and work with the Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurses to meet personal professional development needs. Participate in quality improvement and evidence based practice activities to ensure consumer care meet best practice standards. Maintain contemporary Mental Health Nursing practice through on going professional development and clinical supervision
Requirements: Maintaining compliance with all mandatory training is an essential requirement of this position. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate is essential. It is requirement that all eligible clinicians obtain Authorised Mental Health Practitioner status; and all non-eligible clinicians work towards eligibility to be an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner. The following competencies and training are mandatory requirements for this role. It is the individual’s responsibility to remain current; training time is allocated for attainment. Basic life support (BLS); Patient handling techniques; Fire and Evacuation Program (GEI, FREI and ECO); Child Safety; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Manual handling techniques; Aseptic, non-touch techniques (not AINs); Hand Hygiene Australia (HHA); Occupational Violence Prevention (OVP); Unit specific training/competencies will be addressed in unit orientation
