The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing advanced professional and clinical leadership in the coordination and delivery of comprehensive and complex care, education and consultancy and portfolio management to ensure safe practice and high quality outcomes. The NP Burketown PHC is required to provide direct nursing care at an advanced nursing level including the coordination, management and provision of on-call service requirements such as the Hospital Based Ambulance (HBA) model of care, etc
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with Nurse Practitioner Endorsement and possession of a current annual licence certificate. Proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent postgraduate qualification required for Nurse Practitioner Endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Must apply to the NWHHS Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Committee for credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner within a month of commencement. However, interim Credentialing should be applied for immediately, having requirement to receive authority to practice in NWHHS prior to being able to perform Nurse Practitioner scope of practice. Nurses with additional authorisations must apply to the North West Hospital and Health Service Nursing Scope of Practice Committee to receive authority to practice prior to being able to perform the duties associated with such authorisation. Must be vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases including: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), and hepatitis B as required by HR Policy B1. This position may require the incumbent to operate a government vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required (Queensland ‘C’ class licence)
