Position: Casual Lecturer Electronics
Institution: South Metropolitan TAFE
Location: Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Duties: We are looking to establish a 12 month appointment pool of qualified and/or experienced people interested in employment as a lecturer. The lecturer's primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities (PA) and Activities Related to Delivery (ARD)
Requirements: In order to maintain quality educational services, lecturers are required to keep abreast of technological and other developments in their field through professional development to provide up-to-date information and advice to the College and industry, where appropriate. Electronics and Communications skills are delivered from Certificate II to Diploma levels. To be successful in this role you will ideally have demonstrated knowledge and experience in electronics in these areas: electronic repairs; industry practices; solving problems in DC circuits, power supplies and amplifiers; digital and analogue systems; soldering and hand tool instruction; workplace health and safety. To be “current and competent” you should hold the relevant academic qualifications to at least TAFE Diploma level and have relevant industry experience. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is strongly recommended as all lecturers are expected to collaborate in developing course materials

Appointments from the pool will be made on a casual basis. Suitable candidates will be placed in the appointment pool from which opportunities may be offered as vacancies arise. Candidates may also be considered for similar positions within South Metropolitan TAFE as they arise during the life of the pool. If the appointment pool is exhausted prior to the pool expiry date, we reserve the right to supplement the pool through further advertising. Electronics and Communications skills are delivered from Certificate II to Diploma levels. Lecturing may take place at one or both of the Rockingham and Thornlie campuses. To be successful in this role you will ideally have demonstrated knowledge and experience in electronics in these areas: electronic repairs; industry practices; solving problems in DC circuits, power supplies and amplifiers; digital and analogue systems; soldering and hand tool instruction; workplace health and safety. Classes consist of both theory and practical labs. To be “current and competent” you should hold the relevant academic qualifications to at least TAFE Diploma level and have relevant industry experience. Lecturers deliver training in face-to-face and flexible modes. Experience with Blackboard, or similar online learning/training tools, as well as experience in developing digital content for learning would be highly regarded. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is strongly recommended as all lecturers are expected to collaborate in developing course materials. SM TAFE prefers lecturers to hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116, or TAE40110 and the additional skill sets referred to in Schedule 1, Item 2 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 . Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however SM TAFE may require the recommended candidate to obtain Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 prior to appointment, irrespective of holding other adult education qualifications.
