Duties: The appointed candidate will report to the Chair of the BGS Board as Executive Chair of NERC. This person will be working at the cutting edge of geological science across a breadth of programmes, particularly centring on advances in decarbonisation and subsurface energy, environmental change adaptation and global geological risk. They will be responsible for an annual budget of close to £60 million and 650 colleagues
Requirements: Candidates will have a PhD and personal research reputation in an area relevant to the BGS. They will also have a significant — and inspirational — leadership track record across either academia, the public sector or the private sector. The appointed candidate will demonstrate sound financial and commercial acumen, alongside an affinity with BGS core values
