AppOLcatLons receLve PhD student positions in Econometrics and Statistics at the Institute of Finance (IFIN) Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano (Switzerland) USI Lugano invites applications for up to 3 positions in the Econometrics and Statistics stream of the PhD program in Economics for a start in September 2019. The successful candidate will conduct research and work as teaching/research assistant at the Institute of Finance. He/she will be supervised by Prof. Patrick Gagliardini, Prof. Loriano Mancini, or Prof. Paul Schneider depending on the area of research. With its emphasis on rigorous training and high-quality research, the Faculty of Economics at USI provides an excellent environment to develop an international academic career. To satisfy the minimum criteria for consideration, applicants must have completed a Master degree in applied mathematics, mathematical economics, econometrics, statistics or closely related fields prior to joining the program. The official language of the Ph.D. program is English. Admission to the Ph.D. program is competitive. Admission decisions are based on the candidates' background, interests, attitude and potential for academic excellence. Successful enrollment in the PhD is not compatible with a parallel professional activity. Applications should contain a Curriculum Vitae, a short letter stating the research interests and motivation, transcript of university education, and the names of two academic references that can be contacted for more information for the short-listed candidates. Students should indicate their preference among the research areas indicated above in the application.
