The postholder will have a Postgraduate (MSc or PhD) in medical statistics or a closely related field. He/she will also have experience of working with phase I to III clinical trials, ideally in cancer treatments. Working knowledge of/experience in epidemiological/observational studies would be an advantage. The postholder will already be using one or more statistical analyses packages, eg STATA, SPSS, SAS. The postholder will also be actively involved in postgraduate education (at MSc level and above), therefore previous experience of teaching at this level is required

Medical Statistician, - Ref:1798401 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Cancer Institute Specific unit / Sub department Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre Location of position London Grade 8 Hours Full Time Salary (inclusive of London allowance) ?43,884 - ?51,769 per annum Duties and Responsibilities The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is mainly funded by a mixture of Cancer Research UK programme and project grants, with additional funding from the other charities and pharmaceutical companies. It is responsible for the development and conduct of clinical trials to evaluate new approaches to the treatment of cancer, and investigating new methods of screening for cancer. It is now one of the largest cancer trials centre in the UK, responsible for over 90 clinical studies. They are predominantly multicentre trials (UK and international), of anticancer drugs, surgery and radiotherapy, aimed at improving the survival and other health outcomes. CTC staff collaborate with clinicians and research staff in hospitals and universities in the UK and abroad, and are in regular communication with the regulatory and ethics authorities. The CTC has a varied portfolio of studies ranging from phase I to III with a wide range of statistical methods employed. We wish to employ an experienced medical statistician to take the statistical lead for several cancer trials in the CTC, and to help develop research or methodologies in his/her own area. The post is mainly funded on the core Cancer Research UK programme grant and is funded until 30 September 2023 in the first instance.
