We employ bioinformatics, statistics, machine learning and data integration methodology to investigate aspects of genomic instability and tumour-microenvironment interactions for the purpose of early cancer detection and understanding of neoplastic progression. We are seeking a talented computational postdoc to join the lab at the UCL Genetics Institute, where they will take the lead on an exciting project that aims to understand how genomic instability and complex structural rearrangements in cancer cells may lead to the development of metastases. Duties and responsibilities of the post holder include but are not limited to: undertake research under supervision as a member of the Secrier lab, design, develop and refine computational/statistical methods to analyse and integrate multi-omics data in the context of cancer, carry out analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations using methodologies and other techniques relevant to the project. The post is initially funded until 30/04/2021. Key Requirements The successful candidate must have a PhD (or be studying towards it) in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, mathematics or similar area. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary ?30,922-?32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. Fluency in R, Python, Perl, C++ or other programming language, good knowledge of statistics, evidence of a publication record in good quality peer-reviewed journals are among Essential Criteria. Broad knowledge of bioinformatics methodologies, experience with HPC environments are among Desirable Criteria.
