Text: Research Fellow (Maternity Cover for 6 months), - Ref:1794390 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Division of Medicine Specific unit / Sub department Royal Free Campus - Hampstead Location of position London Grade 7 Hours Full Time (Job share considered) Salary (inclusive of London allowance) ?35,328 - ?42,701 per annum Duties and Responsibilities A position is available immediately within the Centre for Amyloidosis and Acute Phase Proteins at the Royal Free campus of UCL, to provide maternity cover for a project funded by the British Heart Foundation. The successful applicant will work on a well-established project to characterise and further develop a new in vivo model of ATTR cardiac amyloidosis, and to use the model to investigate pathogenetic mechanisms of cardiac amyloidosis. Key duties: ? Histological analysis of experimental samples, including immunohistochemistry. ? Biochemical analysis of experimental samples, including Western blotting and ELISA. ? To manage aspects of the breeding of the transgenic colony, including genotyping of multiple alleles. ? To maintain full and accurate records. The post is available for 6 months initially but may be extended. Key Requirements Key requirements are education to MSc level (for appointment at grade 6) or to PhD level (for appointment at grade 7) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience, and knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology or genetics. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary ?30,922 - ?32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
