The post holder will develop key relationships, carry out market and other relevant research to maximize the opportunities for utilising QMUL’s academic strengths for enhanced societal and economic outcomes
Requirements: The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside commercial acumen and a proactive, creative approach to resourcing academic research. You will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, ideally gained through working in a similar role in a research-intensive University or commercial environment

The Assistant Director of Business Development will provide strong and strategic leadership to Queen Mary’s Business Development team, supporting academic colleagues to develop productive and strategic relationships with research funders (Government and Charities) as well as developing industrial partnerships. The post holder will develop key relationships, carry out market and other relevant research to maximize the opportunities for utilising QMUL’s academic strengths for enhanced societal and economic outcomes. This role will be part of Queen Mary’s Business Development team. The person will also work closely with the University’s Vice Principles for Research and Policy and Partnerships, as well as Academic and Professional Services staff, particularly those who are functionally aligned with research management and business engagement activity including the Research managers in Faculties and Queen Mary Innovation Ltd. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship management skills, alongside commercial acumen and a proactive, creative approach to resourcing academic research. You will have experience of working at the interface between public and private sectors, ideally gained through working in a similar role in a research-intensive University or commercial environment. The post is full time and permanent with a starting salary of £72,333pa inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
