Position: Postdoctoral Fellow - Iodine Chemistry From Ultrashort to Long Time Scales

Duties: Within an interdisciplinary project, you will perform ultrashort time scale X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy experiments at PSI's free electron laser and synchrotron facilities. The related chemical processes play an important role in environmental chemistry and nuclear safety, where iodine emission to the gas phase is triggered by photolysis or radiolysis of iodinated organics. Therefore, your experiments will be embedded in activities related to atmospheric chemistry and nuclear reactor accident experiments and your results will contribute to the development of numerical codes for iodine models. You will publish your results in the scientific literature and present them at international conferences
Requirements: PhD degree in physics, physical or inorganic chemistry Previous experience in work at a synchrotron facility, with good knowledge in instrumentation and data analysis Strong motivation for interdisciplinary work
