All Post-doctoral researchers are part of the QMUL Doctoral College, which provides support with high-quality training and career development activities. We wish to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work in the research group of Dr. John H Viles in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at QMUL. The successful candidate will use a range of biophysical approaches to study the interaction of amyloid fibres and oligomers with lipid bilayers. Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent qualification, in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or relevant discipline and have an established track record of success in high-quality original research. Previous experience in some of the following is highly desirable: TEM, patch-clamp electrophysiology, amyloids, AFM, cell culture and NMR. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme. This appointment is funded by the BBSRC. The post is full time and fixed term (until 31 st May 2019), with the possibility of an extension thereafter. The salary will be £33,615 pro rata per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
