Position: Business Development Manager “eDNA frontiers”

Duties: Expanding the customer base for eDNA frontiers and advocating the uptake of this service in key target markets and with government stakeholders. This will include representation at national conferences and stakeholder meetings. Establishing and maintaining business systems for the effective commercial operation of the eDNA frontiers lab. Playing a key role in driving business outcomes, including assessment of business needs/capacity, risk and cost benefit analysis for future business opportunities and effective project management processes. Applying high levels interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the ability to engage, build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of external partners, collaborators and industry networks
Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in business development and/or industry engagement within a complex organisation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and maintain professional relationships with clients and staff. Demonstrated commercial acumen and a successful record of accomplishment in securing a client base across industry, government and other organisations. Experience in a leadership and/or management with demonstrated achievement of results through the tactical use of resources. Demonstrated high-level communication (written and oral) with the ability to engage and present information clearly and informatively to diverse audiences and prepare business cases. Ideally have some experience (or keen to develop skills) in a scientific discipline so that you are able to communicate the technological core of what ‘eDNA frontiers’ does. The ability to adapt rapidly to a diversity of tasks/roles within the eDNA venture, to prioritise workloads and multitask as ‘eDNA frontiers’ grows and diversifies as a leader in biomonitoring

This innovative new initiative seeks to explore, and build upon new environmental DNA (eDNA) technologies developed at Curtin University. The core innovation lies in the ability of eDNA to profile biological communities in a rapid and effective manner from biological substrates like seawater. Applications of eDNA exist across the oil/gas sector, environmental impact assessment, fisheries assessment, port monitoring and shipping. ‘eDNA frontiers’ has already billed over $1M for its eDNA services and continues to rapidly expand with a number of clients and partners in Australia and abroad. It now seeks a business development manager to assist the technical team to take this venture to a new level. Your new role Your role in ‘eDNA frontiers’ is to lead business development activities of this cutting edge operation. You will act, together with eDNA’s director, as the key liaison person between the technical team and external organisations in industry, government and professional bodies. The role is to scale the uptake and use of this powerful new scientific tool and further develop its potential across a variety of sectors. You have an opportunity to play a key part in the smart commercial application of technology to improving environmental monitoring and sustainable operations in a variety of industries.
