Position: Manager, Compliance (Capital Projects)

Duties: An exciting opportunity exists for a senior resource with experience in construction health and safety to join our Capital Projects team. This role is responsible for reviewing existing systems and where necessary developing new systems to enable the safe delivery of construction projects whilst providing professional advice and training to Capital Projects staff on construction delivery related matters. You will be responsible for Capital Projects operational matters and working closely with the Health, Safety and Emergency Management (HSEM) team who are responsible for legislative and University compliance matters
Requirements: Completion of a graduate qualification and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated sound working knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, WA 1984, Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, WA 1996 and subsidiary documents such as standards and Codes of Practice. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and auditing of safety management systems. Demonstrated ability to provide professional construction/project safety advice, and associated written reports. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in safety issue resolution and risk management principles. Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage work priorities and resources. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive professional team and engage with complex stakeholder groups within a large organization Demonstrated capability to provide training in relation to safety and contractor management. Demonstrated high level interpersonal communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise with multiple stakeholders across all levels and provide leadership in embedding a ‘safety first’ culture

This role is responsible for reviewing existing systems and where necessary developing new systems to enable the safe delivery of construction projects whilst providing professional advice and training to Capital Projects staff on construction delivery related matters. You will be responsible for Capital Projects operational matters and working closely with the Health, Safety and Emergency Management (HSEM) team who are responsible for legislative and University compliance matters. You will be involved in the management and monitoring of external contractors on a range of projects, from simple trade, to complex projects in excess of $100M each, providing professional advice regarding developing and improving safety management plans, procedures, audits and hazard reporting. You will work with the HSEM team to close out any incidents or hazards identified and work with the Project team to review project contracts and ensure appropriate provisions are included. You will provide leadership to the Capital Projects team for the development of best practice operational safety systems and have the ability to champion a culture that prioritises safety.
