Position: Project Field Engineer Manager 3

Duties: The Project Field Engineer Manager 3 reports to the Construction Engineering Manager 4. This position is responsible for the organization and direction of construction engineering forces, and activities relating to construction engineering, subcontracts, as well as engineering liaison to the design engineering organization. The Project Field Engineer Manager 3 performs in a broad range of construction engineering work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) involving both self-performed work and oversight of subcontractor performed work including, but not limited to: Provides technical direction to construction engineers and superintendents in construction engineering and design functions relating to multi‑discipline engineering in multiple disciplines; Provides construction engineering assistance to Superintendents and Subcontract Technical Representatives (STR). This position will interface daily with Design Engineers, Project Managers, Subcontractors, STRs, Superintendents and other Project team members; Have excellent skills in interpreting design drawings and specifications and constructability reviews; Assessing project scope and developing quantities and job hour estimates for field engineering staff; Supervises requisitioning and field verification of materials; Final review, acceptance, and inspection of work for conformance to approved project documents
Requirements: Minimum Job Requirements: Technical knowledge of all phases and disciplines of construction engineering; Thorough knowledge of construction activities as relates to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration; Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment; General awareness of environmental laws; Knowledge of government compliance standards; Knowledge of “Zero Accidents” safety program; Knowledge of current industry quality standards; General knowledge of local labor laws and issues; General knowledge of state, federal and local contracting requirements; Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors; Minimum of 5 years management experience; Desired Skills: Experience as a contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE); Successful experience managing staff of greater than 10 FTEs; Experience working under nuclear quality standards (NQA-1, etc.); Professional Engineering registration; Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or 15 years construction related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
