Position: Strategic Partnership Administrator & PA to DPVC

Duties: The post holder will be expected to administer pro-actively all aspects of industrial partnerships which arise either from Professor Bowen’s personal responsibilities [noting his director positions within the Rolls-Royce University Centre (UTC) and the recently established Baosteel University Technology and Research Centre (UTRC)] and/or from Professor Bowen’s office as Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor to which he has been appointed for five years in the first instance; In particular the post holder will provide comprehensive executive support to the partnership with Rolls-Royce (and based on the UTC) that has been established for twenty- five years and is requested to operate to a strict quality plan. This plan encompasses all aspects of the UTC collaboration agreement and includes a comprehensive research reference system and accreditation procedures for core facilities, together with individual non-disclosure agreements, protection of intellectual property and export control licenses. As a result of the UTC, many other programmes with Rolls-Royce have been developed - most are accepted into the University on the basis of the UTC collaboration agreement and must operate also to the quality plan
Requirements: Preferably educated to A-level standard or equivalent as a minimum; Analyses complex information, identifies problems, gaps and conflicts in data impacting on the University and Strategic Industrial; Partnerships; Significant experience of working in a complex organisation; Demonstrable experience of working as a Personal Assistant at Executive/Board level; Outstanding writing skills, including a clear style of communication and the ability to write for different audiences, and to required deadlines; Highly developed research skills and experience of producing detailed briefings/information for the DPVC; Proven experience of preparing complex travel itineraries and associated tasks around such travel; Experience in organising a national conference for up to 200 delegates will be an advantage; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; An ability to display a high level of tact and diplomacy, particularly when dealing with high profile/senior (international industrialists); Representing and portraying the University in a positive manner is vital and the post holder will therefore need to demonstrate a confident and; welcoming style, and the ability to adapt to different situations as required. Be able to exercise discretion regarding the handling and; management of sensitive information; Excellent organisational and administrative skills, and a proven ability to plan ahead and anticipate what might be required; An effective team worker with the ability to work effectively with staff at different levels of the organisation; Working as required with members of the Vice Chancellor’s office, with a willingness to help and support colleagues as necessary; Good IT skills- proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint and to use these tools to perform complex tasks including resource; planning and to support the implementation of strategies and decisions; A high degree of initiative, personal judgement, resourcefulness, flexibility and a self- motivating approach; The ability to complete tasks based on broad direction only and with minimum supervision
