Position: Senior PGT and CPD Support Administrator

Duties: The Senior Postgraduate Taught and CPD Support Administrator is part of the Education Support Office team in the School of Engineering responsible for the efficient running of all administrative matters relating to postgraduate students, CPD delegates and their programmes and short courses within the School. The postholder will provide high level professional administrative support to students, delegates and teaching staff within the School of Engineering. The postholder will be line manager to the Postgraduate Taught Administrators Team and will provide leadership and guidance to team members; The Education Support Team is responsible for a wide range of activities in support of the student life cycle eg preparation for Welcome activities; student registrations; timetabling; general student enquiries; module feedback questionnaire processing; exam paper preparation and marks processing. The School also has a wide variety of high profile CPD and short courses aimed at the professional market and will include a wide variety of tasks including liaison with contacts both within and externally to the University. This is a wide and varied role; The School has a large number of postgraduate taught students and CPD delegates, therefore the post holder will need to be able to work independently, prioritise and plan their own workload and well as work as part of a team of Education Support Administrators; A customer service focus is essential, since the post holder will be required to support the students and work closely with the Head of Education, the Head of Quality Assurance and Programme Leaders to support and implement changes to procedures where necessary
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience required; Education to at least A Level standard or equivalent; Proven experience of successful working in a customer service based environment; Significant experience of working within an office environment is essential. Evidence of good IT skills, including word-processing, databases and spreadsheets; The capacity to operate effectively and efficiently in a busy multifunctional environment, to prioritise a heavy workload and to work to tight deadlines, taking account of the needs of the main areas of activity in the School; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with staff and students at a variety of different levels and from different professional backgrounds; Able to ensure accuracy, even when performing routine tasks and demonstrate attention to detail; Demonstrate understanding of relevant policies and procedures as they affect the role, and the quality standards and outputs required; Detailed working knowledge of HE education programme structures and requirements; Current working experience of HE education administration; An ability to independently and confidently seek out and apply or advise on matters of University of Birmingham legislation; Experience of working in higher education and familiarity with University procedures, policies, structures and systems; Experience of supervising staff would be advantageous; Experience of supporting committees; Experience of using Canvas
